TÜBA–AMEA Bilateral Symposium “Azerbaijan and Türkiye in World Politics”
The TÜBA-ANAS Bilateral Symposium on “Azerbaijan and Türkiye in World Politics,” organized by the TÜBA International Relations Working Group and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (AMEA), will be held in Baku on June 20-21, 2025. The event will address the historical ties between the two countries and their positions in international politics through a multi-dimensional approach.
AMEA President Prof. Dr. Isa Habibbayli, TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, Turkish Ambassador to Baku Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün, and TÜBA International Relations Working Group Chair, AASSA President, and TÜBA Full Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev will deliver the opening speeches.
World politics in Baku
The program will begin with a presentation by AMEA Vice President Prof. Dr. Govhar Bakhshaliyeva entitled "Türkiye-Azerbaijan Relations from the Perspective of One Nation, Two States: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow“ and TÜBA Member Prof. Dr. Meliha Altunışık's speech titled ”Türkiye's Relations with the Organization of Turkic States: Regional Cooperation, Identity Construction, and Strategic Compatibility in Eurasia." Four thematic panels will be held on the Strategic Foundations of Türkiye-Azerbaijan Relations, Different Dimensions of Türkiye-Azerbaijan Relations, General Diplomacy, and Comparative Diplomacy. A total of 26 academics and experts, including TÜBA members, will give presentations at the symposium, sharing their views and analyses on topics such as foreign policy, energy security, cultural identity, regional cooperation, diaspora policies, and digital diplomacy.
Within the framework of the symposium, the book “One Nation, Two States” prepared by Prof. Dr. Kerim Şükürov and containing Haydar Aliyev's speeches on Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations will be introduced.
Following the event, which aims to contribute to the development of academic cooperation between the two countries within the scope of scientific, social, and cultural programs, the publication of an editorial and scientific English-language book composed of the speakers' texts is planned.
