TÜBA's mission is to encourage research, scientism and scholarship across all fields of science in Türkiye, to encourage young people to pursue science and research, to ensure public acceptance and appreciation of science, and to award prizes for these purposes.

In the progression of a scientist, the post-doctoral independent young researcher phase has a special importance. Scientists need special encouragement and support at this stage, where the need to develop their competencies to conduct research on their own and to manage their master's/doctoral thesis studies is essential. The Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist Awards Program (TÜBA-GEBİP) was initiated in 2001 to bring young scientists who have come to the forefront with their research in our country under the umbrella of the Academy, to create a synergistic environment that will emerge from their interactions among themselves and with the members of the Academy, and to provide the academic and financial support and encouragement they need.

TÜBA-GEBİP Awards, which is one of the first examples of “Young Academy” formation in the world and has an exceptional position in our country, is open to applications from young scientists working in all fields of science, who have received a specialization degree in health sciences and a doctorate degree in other disciplines, who are working in Türkiye or who have decided to work in Türkiye, and who have not reached the age of 40. For each birth of a female candidate, one year will be added to the age limit of 40.

The main goal of the Academy in this program is to create a network of outstanding young researchers (working in the fields of Social, Science, Engineering and Health Sciences) and their working groups, which is renewed every three years, and to contribute to the scientific and total development of our country by bringing a competent generation of researchers to our country. The national and international achievements of our TÜBA-GEBİP award-winning scientists and the other awards they have received are considered as a gratifying indicator of the success of the program.

Within the scope of GEBİP; 180,000 TL support will be provided every year for three years. Additional support of 30,000 TL will be provided each year for the graduate students of the GEBİP Award winner at the thesis stage.
