TÜBA 50th General Assembly was Held
TÜBA 50th General Assembly was held on December 10 at Meyra Palace Hotel Ankara with the participations of Deputy Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Hasan Ali Çelik and TÜBA members.
Deputy Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Hasan Ali Çelik: “Science is the basis of the development.”
Speaking at the opening of the General Assembly, Deputy Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Hasan Ali Çelik said that the value of humanity and life is science and continued his speech: “Science has to deal with every segment of society. It is our obligation to expend the effort required in this regard. It is almost impossible to say that no developed country has drawn up with anything other than science. Science is the basis of the development.”
TÜBA President Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar gave detailed explanations about the programs, projects and activities carried out by the Academy nationally and internationally in 2016 in his opening speech. He gave the news that the prepared reports and other publications will be published shortly and shared with the public. Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar expressed that the Academy Council changed Awards for Best Books Authored and Translated Award Program (TEÇEP) to Scientific Books Authored Award Program (TESEP). Prof. Acar also underlined the necessity of the Academy law and the need for a building.
Prof. Dr. Hayrunnisa Bolay Belen's membership is extended
From Gazi University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurology, Prof Hayrunnisa Bolay Belen's membership was extended as a result of the vote.
The General Assembly Conference entitled "Electricity Energy and Renewable Energy Resources: The Situation in Our Country" given by TÜBA Honorary Member Prof. Sadik Kakaç was followed with interest by the members of the Academy. TÜBA Associate Member Prof. Mehmet Bulut begun his speech about TÜBA Honorary Member Prof. Halil İnalcık died on July 25 with “İnalcık had a fertile life that exceeds a century” and continued his speech by giving information about İnalcık’s education and studies.
TÜBA Honorary Prof. Namik Kemal Aras made a presentation about TÜBA Former President Prof Yücel Kanpolat died in September. In his presentation, he gave information about the international education, research areas and studies he has undertaken in TÜBA by Prof. Kanpolat.
A plaque was presented to Prof. Kadriye Arzum Erdem Gürsan elected as Principal Member at the 49th General Assembly by Deputy Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Hasan Ali Çelik after the speeches about Prof. İnalcık and Prof. Kanpolat.
