The Largest Contribution from Türkiye to Medical Field in the 21st Century from TÜBA Principal Member Prof. Erel
According to data from the article “Türkiye’s ‘Genuine’ Contribution to Medicine in the Current Century: Major Recent Decline” published in September 2017 issue of Erciyes Medical Journal (SCI) by Prof. Altan Onat, TÜBA Principal Member Prof. Özcan Erel is the scientist who made the greatest contribution to medicine in international field between 2001-2016 (June) for 15 year-period.
Prof. Özcan Erel, who still continues his duty in the Department of Medical Biochemistry at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Medical Faculty, was the scientist whose articles are cited with 2061 citations in the 15 year-period among the articles originating from Türkiye. Besides, the articles of Prof. Özcan Erel took the first three ranks of the articles in terms of the citation they received.
In the article by Prof. Onat, where scientists, articles and universities/institutions are cited according to the Web of Science, attention is also paid to the serious decrease in the contribution of Turkish publications (cited references) in the last 7-10 years.
