The First Photonuclear Reaction in Türkiye Realised at Mediterranean University by TÜBA-GEBİP Member Prof. Dr. İsmail Boztosun
TÜBA-GEBİP (Outstanding Young Scientists Award Program) awardee and professor at Mediterranean University, Department of Physics Prof. Dr. İsmail Boztosun and his team realized one of the most fundamental experiments of nuclear physics: using gamma-rays to detach neutrons and photons from atomic nuclei. The photonuclear reaction experiment dating back to the 1970’s in the world, has been realized for the first time in our country using domestic resources. Prof. Boztosun and his team see this experiment as a starting point for many others to come. We congratulate them and hope that their contributions to world science will continue.
