The Deadline for TÜBA-TEKNOFEST 2026 Doctoral Science Awards Applications Has Been Extended

Due to high demand, the application deadline for the 2026 TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Award program—which TÜBA administers as a partner of TEKNOFEST—has been extended to 5:00 PM on April 1, 2026.

TÜBA established the TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Award in 2021 to recognize doctoral theses produced in Türkiye in the priority areas of TEKNOFEST, of which it has been a partner since 2019. This established award program is granted to the authors of theses that rank in the top positions following scientific peer reviews conducted across four main categories: Natural and Engineering Sciences, Health and Life Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Basic Sciences. Following the scientific evaluation processes, the Academy Council has decided to award 200,000 Turkish lira to the first-place thesis author, 150,000 Turkish lira to the second-place author, and 100,000 Turkish lira to the third-place author for the year 2026.

TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker announced that, following a decision by the Academy Council, the “Fuat Sezgin History of Science Doctoral Award” will be presented for the first time this year to encourage original research in the history of science. In his statement, President Şeker noted that the TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards highlight high-quality doctoral research that directly contributes to Türkiye’s vision for science and technology, and stated that the Fuat Sezgin History of Science Doctoral Award, to be presented for the first time in 2026, will also support research in the history of science. Şeker emphasized that the work young researchers will undertake in line with the goals of the National Technology Initiative will further strengthen Türkiye's academic and technological capacity.

The award covers the fields of technology and design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems, robotics and mechatronics, modeling and simulation technologies, energy, hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, aerospace and unmanned underwater systems, information and communication technologies, cybersecurity and cryptology, education, health, agriculture and ecology technologies, and biotechnology, as well as doctoral theses addressing the topics of international relations, development policies, educational approaches, and security policies within the scope of the National Technology Initiative.

Applications may be submitted individually or, through nominations by TÜBA members, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK), Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB), and university rectorates.

Applications must be submitted online via www.bilimodulleri.tuba.gov.tr by April 1, 2026. Theses must have been successfully defended in 2024 or 2025 and must have been produced in Türkiye.
