TDBAB General Assembly and Scientific Meeting on “Academic Cooperation in Turkic World”
General Assembly of Union of Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World (TDBAB), founded last year and its 2015-2016 term presidency was carried out by the President of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Academician Murat Zhurinov, and the scientific meeting on “Academic Cooperation in Turkic World” commemorating the 90th Year of Baku Turcology Congress was held in Green Park Hotel Ankara hosted by TÜBA on October 21, 2016.
TÜBA President Professor Ahmet Cevat Acar Has Been The 2016-2017 Term President of TDBAB
The activities that will be organized in next period and other topics on the agenda were discussed and Professor Ahmet Cevat Acar was elected as The 2016-2017 Term President at the II. General Assembly of Union of Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World, has members as Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, TÜBA, International Turkic Academies (UTA), The Tataristan Academy of Sciences and Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan and secretarial services are carried out by UTA.
TÜBA President Professor Acar, “We Must Strengthen the Academic Cooperation in the Turkish World”
In his opening speech of The General Assembly, TÜBA President Professor Acar thanked The 2015-2016 Term President Murat Zhurinov, UTA President Darkhan Kydyrali and other academy presidents and representatives. He also said that they have an aim about making academies of other Turkic Republics, the autonomous republics and Mongolia and Hugary that have relations with the Turkic world as member of TDBAB.
Professor Acar expressed that they have a lot of responsibility to the great Turkish nation as scientists at the opening of General Assembly of Union of Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World, of that he took the 2016-2017 Term Presidency. He said that they will strive for the development of their union in this context and also added that the science academies, scientific institutions and scientists are in a position that they should not cut their relations each other, although there are sometimes some tensions and conflicts between countries. Both TÜBA and institutions and organizations related to science, education and technology in Turkey and other brother countries need to assess the cooperation opportunities. He emphasized that he especially wants to organize some meetings in order to improve the cooperation. He also mentioned that Baku Turcology Congress was held in difficult conditions. He commemorated 131 Turkish scientist attended the congress with mercy.
The General Assembly also decided to devolve the next term presidency to Azerbaijan. The Assembly also agreed to share the new publications, support to exchange of scientist and perform many common projects.
The scientific meeting on “Academic Cooperation in Turkic World” ended with the presentations of TÜBA Honorary Member Professor Isenbike Togan on “Ancient Turkish Inscriptions and Academic Cooperation”, TÜBİTAK Head of BİDEB Professor Mustafa Çufalı on “BIDEB Scholarship and Support Programs”, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Vice-president Professor İsa Habibbeyli on “Turcology Congress and Issues on Scientific and Civil Relations at Turkic World”, Professor Möhsün Nağısosylu on “I. Turcology Congress: Azerbaijan and Turkic World”, Academician Mustafa Öner from Ege University on “Baku Turcology and Turkic World” and International Turkic Academy Secretary Askhat Kessikbayev.
The social programs, including Konya and Cappadocia was held by jointly TÜBA and Necmettin Erbakan University (NEU) with the participation of AASSA and TDBAB representatives on 22-23, October after the General Assembly and scientific meeting. In this context, TÜBA President Professor Ahmet Cevat Acar, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Vice-president Professor İsa Habibbeyli and NEU Rector&TÜBA Council Member Professor Muzaffer Şeker made speeches and gave the awards of the winners by attending the prize ceremony of “Social Science Essay Competition” at Konya Science Center.
