Summer School for Young Turkologists
International Turkic Academy, with the support of TÜBA and Kyrgyzstan-Türkiye Manas University, will organize a summer school titled "Young Turkologists" in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan between June 18-26, 2023. The deadline for applications for the Summer School is May 25, 2023.
The summer school will be held on the campus of Kyrgyzstan-Türkiye Manas University. In addition to having at least a master's degree and being under the age of 35, Turkologists studying and doing research in the fields of Turkology, Turkish history, Turkish literature, Anthropology, Cultural Studies and Archaeology; as well as residing in Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Hungary, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Northern Cyprus, Bashkortostan (RF) or Tatarstan (RF) are eligible to apply to the program.
In the 2023 TÜBA Summer School, which is designed to emphasize the importance of Turkology research for Turkic states, Turkic peoples and the research world; the concept of the Turkic World, History of Turkic States, Archaeology of the Turkic World, History of Art and Thought of the Turkic World, Turkic Languages and General Features of Contemporary Turkic Languages, Turkic World Mythology and Turkic World Epics and Legends will be studied. The lectures will be given in Turkish by internationally renowned academics from the Turkic republics. The six-day program includes daily lectures as well as working groups’ meetings, complementary seminars and social activities.
Applicants are expected to have proficiency in Turkish. Turkish language proficiency will be requested for applications from countries where Turkish is not spoken. Applicants should send the attached application form, a copy of the photo page of their passport, a copy of the last obtained degree/diploma/certificate of graduation, a student certificate for students registered to a PhD program, a 250-300 word motivation letter addressed to the selection committee and a letter of reference to officetwesco@gmail.com by May 25, 2023. When applications are received, an acknowledgement of receipt e-mail will be sent to all applicants. Selected applicants, on the other hand, will receive an acceptance letter at the end of the selection process.
