President Şeker Visits Fahri Hiyaban as Part of the 100th Anniversary Celebrations of the First Turkology Congress
TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker visited Fahri Hiyaban, the site of the memorial tomb of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as part of the Turkic World Week events organized in Azerbaijan to mark the 100th anniversary of the First Congress of Turkology.
The visit, which took place prior to the event, was attended by Academician Isa Habibbeyli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), as well as representatives of leading scientific, cultural, and academic institutions from the Turkic world. The delegation paid their respects by laying wreaths and flowers at the graves of Heydar Aliyev and academic Zarife Aliyeva.
The visit to Fahri Hiyaban was held as the first event of “Turkic World Week,” organized under the auspices of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress. Following the visit, the participants toured the historic İsmailiye Building, where the First Turkology Congress was held in 1926, and learned about the congress’s significance in the history of science.
The visit was also attended by representatives from the Organization of Turkic States, TÜRKSOY, the International Turkic Academy, the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation, TÜRKPA, the Yunus Emre Institute, the Atatürk Cultural, Language, and History Higher Council, the Turkish Language Association, as well as scientific academies and universities from various countries.
