Applications for the 2026 TÜBA-GEBİP and TESEP Awards Have Begun
Applications for the 2026 TÜBA-Outstanding Young Scientist Awards (TÜBA-GEBİP) and TÜBA Scientific Copyright Awards (TÜBA-TESEP) programs, run by TÜBA, are now open. Applications can be submitted until March 27, 2026.
Launched by TÜBA 25 years ago, the TÜBA-GEBİP Awards continue to encourage young scientists in Türkiye in their research. The Turkish Young Academy family, of which the award winners are natural members, continues to grow each year with scientists who stand out in Türkiye and around the world for their work. The TÜBA-TESEP Award, which has been given for nearly 20 years, recognizes high-quality copyrighted works that emphasize the correct use of the Turkish language in science.
Gazi Yaşargil Neuroscience Special Awards have been launched.
TÜBA has decided to launch the “Gazi Yaşargil Neuroscience Special Awards” starting in 2026 in memory of M. Gazi Yaşargil, who passed away in 2025 and was known worldwide as the “Brain Surgeon of the Century.” In accordance with the decision of the Academy Council, at least one of the GEBIP Awards will be given as the “Special Award in Neuroscience” in memory of the late TÜBA Honorary Member Prof. Dr. M. Gazi Yaşargil. Young Turkish scientists in the relevant scientific disciplines will be eligible to apply for this special award, which will be given in the field of Health and Life Sciences. The award will be presented to the recipient at a ceremony held at the Presidential Complex, along with other awards given under the TÜBA Awards. Within the scope of TÜBA-GEBİP, the “Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu Pharmacy GEBİP Special Award” will also find its recipient this year, honoring a scientist who stands out for their “scientific research, projects, and work in the field of pharmacy.”
Within the scope of the TESEP Awards, special awards will be given in the names of Halil İnalcık, Mehmet Genç, and Kemal Karpat, members of TÜBA whose scientific contributions are recognized by the global public.
