“Mustafa Prize” to TÜBA Member Prof. Dr. Umran S. İnan

TÜBA Honorary Member and Koç University Rector. Prof. Umran Savaş İnan was awarded with the 2019 Mustafa Prize at the ceremony organized by Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation in Tehran.

Koç University Rector Prof. Dr. Umran S. İnan was awarded the Mustafa Prize for his studies in the field of ionospheric and atmospheric physics and his contributions to science. The ceremony was held on November 9, 2019. Over 100 scientist from various countries attended the ceremony.

Taking this award at the ceremony, Prof. Umran İnan said: “The Mustafa Prize plays an important role in the universalization of science. I am very proud to be deemed worthy of this important prize that supports the contributions of the Islamic world to science in this period when the world has entered a new era in scientific terms. I am also very pleased that my research, which we have been working on for years with a large team and my doctoral students at Stanford University, has been awarded with such a prize.”

Hassan Zohour, President of the Mustafa Prize Scientific Committee, announced that the call for the 2019 Mustafa Prize was sent to 202 academic centers and 512 scientists from 52 countries. 1649 application of the scientists who answered the call were evaluated by the jury. The jury identified 192 works from 1649 works and 29 works from these 192 works were selected for the final round.
