“TÜBA V. Course in Applied Science Education” was Held at Istanbul University

TÜBA 6th Course in Applied Science Education that organized by TÜBA under the Science Education Program in the framework of the protocol signed by Ministry of National Education was held at Istanbul University on January 30 – February 1, 2017.

180 teachers from 11 different provinces received the applied education
The fourth course, the first held at Gazi University in April 2015, the second held at Erzurum Ataturk University in September 2015, the third held at Akdeniz University on February 2016, was held at Mugla Sitki Kocman University in September 2016. The fifth course, held at Istanbul University, took five days. 180 teachers from 11 different provinces participated in the course.

In the education program; the applied education in basic sciences was given by TÜBA Science Education Working Group members, TÜBA Members and Outstanding Young Scientists Program (GEBİP) winners.

The program was held under the “Physics Teaching Program and Science Education Relation, Innovations in the Renewed Secondary School Physics Teaching Program, "Right Known Wrongs" in Biology, Inquiry Based Laboratory Applications, Processing History Lessons with "Big Question", Problem Solving Strategies in Mathematics, Science Begins Asking Questions, "Chemistry Curriculum and New Practices" titles. This intensive program aims to develop a more effective communication in the fields of physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, science and history and to develop teaching-based teaching skills with the students in the teaching process of the teachers.

In the course program, a conference was also held"The Essence of Religions and Culture of Living Together" by TÜBA Principal Member Prof. Şinasi Gündüz.

Prof. Gündüz underlined that it is a serious paradox of remembering religions with conflict, violence, and terror when the values represented by religions that aim the salvation and well-being of human are considered. The conference lasted 1.5 hours. It emphasized the necessity of seeing differences as a wealth of civilization in the production of common mind.
