TÜBA Member Prof. Gürsan Attended AASSA-WISE Meeting
TÜBA Full Member Prof. Kadriye Arzum Erdem Gürsan attended The 2nd AASSA-WISE International Symposium on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in STEM, Subtheme: Food Systems Transformation and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) hosted by The National Academy of Science and Technology Philippines (NAST PHL) and organized by the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) AASSA, of which she is a member, with the support of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA).
Ege University Faculty Member Prof. Gürsan presented his scientific research at the symposium organized online in the Philippines; he participated in the meeting where the activities of AASSA-WISE, of which he is a board member, for the 2024-2025 period were evaluated and in the open session where the participants actively participated. The board of directors discussed the topics covered in the symposium and exchanged views on the seminars and scientific reports to be prepared in the future. Prof. Dr. K. Arzum Erdem Gürsan noted that in the symposium, which included representatives from AASSA member countries; information was shared about what kind of programs were created to determine strategies for the advancement of women in science, to identify and encourage best practices within the scope of supporting their role in scientific research. The scope and outputs of the "Prof. Yoo Hang Kim Young Women Scientists Award" program, which has been carried out by AASSA-WISE since 2022, were also evaluated at the meeting.
