IAP general assembly meeting was held in Rio De Janeiro
The triennial General Assembly meeting (27 February 2013) and the General Conference entitled “Grand Challenges for Integrated Innovations: Science for Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Development” of The Global Network of Science Academies (IAP) where TÜBA is a member, was held between 25-27 February 2013 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Academy President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar and his Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Aliy participated in the meetings. At the General Assembly meeting, while Prof. Dr. Mohamed H.A. Hassan (Sudan, AAS) who represents the developing countries was re-elected a one of the Co-Chairs of IAP for three more years; Prof. Dr. Volker ter Meulen (Germany, Leopoldina) replaced Prof. Dr. Howard Alper (Canada) as the Co-Chair who represents developed countries.
After the elections held at the General Assembly meeting, the newly elected IAP Executive Committee (2013-2015) comprises the IAP Co-Chairs and representatives of Brazil, Canada, China, Cuba, France, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and the US.
