2024 TÜBA - TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards Announced

Within the scope of TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards, doctoral dissertations produced in Türkiye, including original thematic topics, were evaluated by the Award Evaluation Committee and the results of 2024 were announced. The awards will be presented to their owners at TEKNOFEST, which will be held in Adana between October 2 and 6.

TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Award recognizes; PhD theses on technology and design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems, robotics and mechatronic systems, modeling and simulation technologies, energy, hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, technologies for air, space and unmanned underwater systems, information and communication technologies, cyber security and cryptology, education, health, agriculture and ecology technologies and biotechnology, international relations, development policies, educational approaches and security policies of the national technology move. For the year 2024, the Academy Council determined the amount of the award as 75,000 Turkish Liras for the first thesis author, 60,000 Turkish Liras for the second and 50,000 Turkish Liras for the third.

Congratulating the 2024 winners of the TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards, which have been presented to scientists since 2021, TÜBA President Prof. Muzaffer Şeker emphasized that one of the most challenging periods in which scientists build their careers and carry out their scientific studies is the doctoral process, and said that the doctoral theses produced at the end of this process are a milestone in the scientific journey.

President Şeker said: “With the Programmed Doctoral Awards, we set out to increase the motivation of our scientists, to support qualified human resources and studies, and to reward doctoral dissertations produced in Türkiye. Our meticulous evaluation processes among many theses that made a difference for our awards, which found their owners for the 4th time this year, have ended, and the awards, which have been presented in 3 fields so far, have found their owner in the field of Basic Sciences this year. A total of 13 scientists were awarded. In this respect, I would like to say that our qualified scientists and their work make us proud.” He also stated that they attach great importance to bringing together and encouraging scientists who add value to national and international academic studies under the roof of TÜBA and to see them in many programs and projects with TÜBA members.

2024 TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards – Science and Engineering Fields
As a result of the evaluation, in the field of Science and Engineering Sciences, Dr. Sercan Aygün won first place with his thesis from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Graduate School of Education, Dr. Doğa Doğanay won second place with his thesis from Middle East Technical University (METU) Graduate School of Science and Engineering, and Dr. Semih Doğu won third place with his thesis from ITU Graduate School of Education.

2024 TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards – Health and Life Sciences
In the field of Health and Life Sciences, Dr. Nadir Yalçın from Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences won first place with his thesis, Dr. Esra Bulut Atalay from Dokuz Eylul University Institute of Health Sciences and Dr. Esra Atalay Şahar from Ege University Institute of Science won second place with their theses, and Dr. Ece Güler from Marmara University Institute of Health Sciences won third place with her thesis.

2024 TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards – Social Sciences and Humanities
In the field of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Tuğrul Cabir Hakyemez won first place with his thesis at Boğaziçi University Institute of Social Sciences, Dr. Sinan Okur won second place with his thesis at Marmara University Institute of Educational Sciences, and Dr. Şeyma Çağlar Özhan won third place with her thesis at Hacettepe University Institute of Educational Sciences.

2024 TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards – Basic Sciences
In the field of Basic Sciences, Dr. Recep İşçi was awarded the TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Award for his thesis at ITU Graduate Education Institute, Dr. Zafer Eroğlu was awarded the second prize for his thesis at Atatürk University Institute of Science and Technology, and Dr. Çağla Çelik was awarded the third prize for her thesis at Erciyes University Institute of Health Sciences.
