The winner of the TÜBA-Prof. Dr. M. Gazi Yaşargil Postdoctoral Research Fellowship has been announced
Following the evaluation of applications for the “TÜBA-Prof. Dr. M. Gazi Yaşargil Postdoctoral Researcher Fellowship,” which was established as part of the neuroscience and interdisciplinary brain research programs conducted under the Neuroscience and Neurotechnology Center of Excellence (NÖROM) with the support of TÜBA, Dr. Özgül Uslu was selected as the recipient.
The Scientific Evaluation Committee, composed of TÜBA members, deemed Dr. Özgül Uslu suitable for the research fellowship following a review of the applicants’ academic backgrounds, doctoral work, scientific publications, international experience, and their alignment with NÖROM’s research infrastructure, as well as interviews. Dr. Uslu, who will receive financial support for 12 months, will take an active role in the national and international projects she is assigned to, conduct scientific research activities, regularly report on the data obtained, and contribute to scientific output for publication in national and international peer-reviewed journals. In addition, her responsibilities will include participating in project meetings, preparing research outputs, and providing academic and technical support to young researchers as needed.
TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker congratulated Dr. Özgül Uslu, who was awarded the Prof. Dr. M. Gazi Yaşargil Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, stating, “I believe that Dr. Özgül Uslu, who stands out for her scientific productivity, high-quality academic expertise, and work in the field of neuroscience, will make valuable contributions to this fellowship program, which aims to preserve the scientific legacy of the late TÜBA Member Prof. Dr. M. Gazi Yaşargil. We place great importance on nurturing our young researchers to become scientists capable of competing at the international level, and in this regard, we aim to further strengthen our country’s scientific capacity through the support we provide. I congratulate Dr. Uslu and wish her outstanding success in her research.”
Who is Dr. Özgül Uslu?
She graduated from the Department of Psychology at Hacettepe University. She completed her master’s and doctoral degrees in the Department of Neuroscience at Ege University. Uslu, whose doctoral research focused on the functional organization of the brain in patients with schizophrenia, served as a researcher at Ege University’s Standardization of Computational Anatomy Techniques for Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences (SoCAT) Laboratory from 2018 to 2025. Uslu, who was responsible for fMRI data analysis in TÜBİTAK 1001 and TÜBİTAK 1004 projects, has published research on schizophrenia, depression, and the functioning of brain networks in internationally renowned scientific journals. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the Gazi University Center of Excellence for Neuroscience and Neurotechnology (NÖROM).
