The efficient use of food and water resources is critical to both our individual health and global sustainability. In a world where millions of people struggle to access basic food and water, wasting these resources is unacceptable. Preventing food and water loss has wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts and contributes to building a more just and sustainable world for future generations. Wasting resources leads to inefficient use of limited natural assets, serious economic losses and environmental damage. At the same time, food and water wastage disrupts the supply-demand balance, causing price fluctuations and negatively affecting low-income groups in particular. This waste disrupts the ecological balance and can lead to a decline in biodiversity and depletion of water resources. In addition, wasted food contributes to climate change by increasing greenhouse gas emissions. While food waste threatens global food security, raising awareness and developing conscious consumption habits play an important role in preventing waste.
