Call for Papers: International Symposium on the Role of Economic and Financial Integration in Sustainable Development
The fifth event in a series organized since 2021 by the TÜBA Working Group on Sustainable Development and Finance, an international symposium titled “The Role of Economic and Financial Integration in Sustainable Development,” will be held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, on November 27–28, 2026, in collaboration with the International Balkan University (IBU). The symposium will be conducted in English, and abstracts may be submitted until November 10, 2026.
Admission to the symposium is free. The event will examine the role of economic and financial integration in sustainable development through a comparative analysis of the Western Balkans and Türkiye. Academics and researchers will gather at the symposium, where discussions on topics such as the circular economy, sustainable finance, and regional cooperation will be expanded to address the dimension of inter-economic relations.
Papers selected through this call for papers will be presented in parallel sessions on November 28. Presentations will be held in person; in exceptional cases, online presentations may be permitted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee. Each paper presentation will be allotted 15 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes for discussion.
Symposium Theme
Within the scope of the symposium, papers will be evaluated under six main themes: financial integration, capital markets, and development finance; trade integration, regional value chains, and the common regional market; sustainable finance architecture; carbon pricing and the green transition; payment systems integration, financial inclusion, and human capital; and institutions, governance, and measurement.
