The famous bibliography and biography compiled in three volumes by Bursalı Mehmed Tâhir during the final period of the Ottoman Empire has been transcribed into the modern Turkish alphabet by Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç. This important work, which serves as a reference for researchers and intellectuals, provides information on scholars who lived and produced works from the founding of the Ottoman Empire to its final period, including the Meşâyih (religious scholars), Ulemâ (scholars), Şuarâ (literary figures and poets), Müverrihîn (historians), Etıbbâ (physicians and doctors), Riyâziyyûn (mathematicians), and Coğrafiyyûn (geographers). Designed and published in three volumes, much like the first edition of Osmanlı Müellifleri, one of the most famous works of Ottoman biographical literature, it is also published in three volumes. In addition to the transliteration, a comprehensive and well-developed index consisting of terms, personal names, and especially the titles of works has been added at the end of the book’s third volume.
