Real-Life Modeling Problems for High School Math Topics
In the new edition of the book, first published in 2016, general recommendations on how modeling problems can be used in the classroom, as well as concrete application ideas specific to many of the problems in the book, are presented under a new section heading. Additionally, the book includes a sample implementation plan and a template that illustrate the mathematical modeling cycle step by step. Another significant addition to this edition explores the relationship between modeling and the historical development of mathematics, as well as the philosophical background of the two-way relationship between mathematics and modeling. To facilitate the use of the book, an alphabetical index has been added showing which mathematical topics correspond to which real-life contexts and modeling problems.
