TÜBA “TDUBAB- International Law, Diplomacy, and Cooperation” Summer School Was Held

The Union of National Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World (TDUBAB) Summer School on International Law, Diplomacy and Cooperation was held in TÜBA Rabi Medrese, which is located in Suleymaniye Madrasa in Istanbul between 17-21 July with the hosting of TÜBA and the support of TİKA.

At his speech in Summer School, TÜBA President Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar, run the term presidency of TDUBAB, said that TDUBAB was established at the meeting with the participation of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bashkortia, Tatarstan and TUBA and International Turkic Academy. The development of scientific cooperation between the countries in the Turkic World and the neighboring and related country academies is targeted.

Voicing that the Summer School program is very rich in "international law, diplomacy, and cooperation," Prof. Acar said that at the end of the term presidency, we plan to hold a scientific meeting in Turkestan city of Kazakhstan and the TDUBAB General Assembly in November.

Saying that having cooperation agreements with the over 30 academies of countries; TÜBA is member of 12 organizations such as Science Academy Associations of World, Europe, and Asia, Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar emphasized that Scientific studies are of great importance in terms of developing co-operation between countries and societies, independent of political considerations and issues and in this context, the TÜBA attaches special importance to relations with friends and sister countries in the Turkic World.

After the speeches of TÜBA Vice President Prof. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev and Advisor to President and Istanbul University Faculty of Law Member Prof. İbrahim Kaya, the program ended with the general evaluation and certificate ceremony on July 21.

The participants, experts in both public and private sector, graduate students and young academics, especially in social sciences, from Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Uzbekistan and China Uyghur Region and Turkey were trained in the field of “Law and Diplomacy” for five days.

The program included the lectures of “Diplomacy: Basic Concepts and Historical Development” by TÜBA Vice-President and METU Department of International Relations Faculty Member Prof. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev, “International Law: Basic Concepts and Historical Development” by Prof. İbrahim Kaya, “History of Economic Cooperation: A Global Perspective” by TÜBA Associate Member and İstanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Rector Prof. Mehmet Bulut, “International Economic Cooperation and Regional Integration” by TÜBA Associate Member and Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Faculty Member Prof. Muhsin Kar, “Forms of Diplomatic Cooperation” by METU Faculty Member Prof Oktay F. Tanrısever, “International Cooperation in Society, Culture and Education” by TÜBA Principal Member and Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Faculty Member Prof. Ömer Çaha, “Non-governmental organizations and International Cooperation” by Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Faculty Member Prof. Birol Akgün, “International Governmental Organizations and International Cooperation” by Selçuk University Faculty Member Prof. Şaban H. Çalış, “International Security Cooperation” by TÜBA Associate Member and Bilkent University Faculty Member Prof. Pınar Bilgin. In the program, there are also issues by the international legal order, cooperation in the fields of economy, technology, development and environment, science diplomacy and international scientific cooperation, friendly solutions of disagreements, international organizations and cooperation as well as regional topics.

Istanbul Bosphorus tour was organized for all participants at the end of the Summer School.

The term presidency of the Union of Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World, established in 2015 in Astana with the participation of the Presidents of Science Academies in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan and International Turkic Academy, is run by TÜBA President Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar.
