I. TÜBA-KAST Bilateral Symposium on Scientific Collaboration Between Korea and Türkiye
The symposium titled " Scientific Collaboration Between Korea and Türkiye" organized by the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) under the scope of bilateral cooperation between TÜBA and KAST was held on April 19, 2017 in Seoul.
The opening speeches of the symposium, at The Sejong Hotel in Seoul, Korea's capital, was made by KAST President Prof. Myung-Chul Lee, TÜBA President Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar and Ambassador of Türkiyeto Seul Arslan Hakan Okçal.
In the symposium, TÜBA Vice-President Prof. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev, TÜBA Honorary Member Prof. Namık Kelam Aras, TÜBA Council Member Prof. Fikrettin Şahin and Erciyes University Faculty Member Prof. S. Göksel Türközü also took place.
Hee Soo Lee from Hanyang University held the opening lesson with the presentation titled " Korea-Türkiye: 2500 Years' Historical and Cultural Encounter".
Prof. Dohan Kim from Seoul University presided Session 1 titled as “Cultural and Diplomatic between Korea and Türkiye”. The presentations in this session were “Bilateral Relations between Korea and Türkiye” by Jin-hee Oh (Director for Central Europe Division / Ministry of Foreign Affairs), “A Historical Overview of Turco-Korean Relations” by A. Nuri Yurdusev (Vice President / Turkish Academy of Sciences – TÜBA), “The S&T Development in Korea and Its Implications for Türkiye” by Sunyang Chung (Division Chair of Policy Research, KAST / Professor, Konkuk University), “Exploring the Potentials of Turco-Korean Cooperation in Korean Studies” by S. Göksel Türközü (Professor / Erciyes University).
Prof. Jung Han Yoon from Hallym University will presided Session 2 titles as “Status and Possible Cooperation in Science and Engineering between Korea and Türkiye”. The presentations in this session were “Brief History and Current Status of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology” by Sang Yup Lee (Fellow, KAST / Professor, KAIST), “South Korea and Türkiye: Some Comparisons” by Namik Kemal Aras (Member / Turkish Academy of Sciences – TÜBA), “Possible Collaborations in the Field of Biotechnology related to Agriculture, Food, Environment, Health and Society” by Fikrettin Sahin (Member, Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) / Professor, Yeditepe University), “Progress of NRF-TÜBITAK Projects” by Hyun Jin Park (Director for International Cooperation, KAST / Professor, Korea University).
