TÜBA Principal Member Prof. Mandal was Appointed as TÜBİTAK President
TÜBA Principal Member and Sabancı University Rector. Prof. Hasan Mandal was appointed as TÜBİTAK President.
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, Former President of TÜBİTAK. Prof. Ahmet Arif Ergin was appointed as Advisor to the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, and Prof. Hasan Mandal was appointed as TÜBİTAK President.
Who is Prof. Hasan Mandal?
Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal was born in Eskişehir in 1965. He was schooled at Yunusemre Primary School, Atatürk Secondary School and Engine Vocational High School. Professor Mandal received his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering from Middle East Technical University as an honour student in 1987, and his PhD degree from Newcastle University, United Kingdom in 1992. During the years 1992-1994, He made his predoctoral studies in Newcastle University, United Kingdom and continued his post- doctorate studies in Karlsruhe University, Germany between the years of 1997-1998.
In 1994, he started his academic career in department of Ceramic Engineering in Anadolu University as an Assistant Professor. He got his Associate Professor degree in 1996 and his tenured Professor degree in 2001. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal has many published studies above 140 and 70 of them was published in journals under SCI. He has also 6 international patents. His number of citations is around 1200 and H-index is 16. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal has been granted various awards both nationally and internationally including TUBITAK Science Award. Currently, He is a member of Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), World Academy of Ceramics (WAC) and Academia Europaea (AE).
Professor Dr. Hasan Mandal has worked as Director of Research and Graduate Policies (RGP) between the years of 2011-2015 and, at the same time, as Vice Rector in Sabancı University since January 2012.
He also served as The President of the Global Engineering Deans Council, The First Vice President of the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies, The President of European Ceramic Society, The Vice President of the Anadolu University and The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Anadolu University, The Chairperson of Turkish Engineering Deans Council, The Board Member in both ATAP and GOSP Technopark, The Board Member in Inovent Innovative Ventures, The Board Member in BOREN and The Executive Board Member in TUBITAK, Technology Transfer Mechanisms Support Group (TEMEG) and TUBITAK, Engineering Research Group (MAG).
Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL has appointed to YÖK (Council of Higher Education) membership on March 25, 2015. He was elected to Executive Board of YÖK on April 1, 2015 and the Deputy Chairman of the YÖK on July 21, 2016. Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL continued these duties until January 12, 2018 and he has started to act as Deputy Rector of Sabancı University since January 12, 2018.
He was assigned as the President of TUBITAK in February 22, 2018 by decree. He has still been working as the member of Council of Higher Education.
